For landowners there are numerous benefits to hosting renewable assets. The landowner can earn an annual income from the operation of a renewable asset on their land. This normally takes the form of a lease payment based on the extent of their land used for production.
The land is subject to minimal disruption during construction & operation allowing activity to continue unimpeded throughout the vast majority of the land holding.
Renewable developments require reasonably large areas of land (in excess 100 acres) that have a good wind/solar resource. Ideally the land should be relatively clear of existing dwellings and infrastructure. Wind turbines for example need at least 500m separation from the nearest inhabited dwelling.
